Fake 4K Dashcam Purchase & Installations - Please be aware!
Share
We are aware that there is a fake 4K dashcam brand locally established, promoting, and selling to consumers as an Australian business.
Under Australian Consumer Law (ACL), enforced by the ACCC, it is illegal to sell and promote an upscaled 4K dashcam as a true-native 4K dashcam. Once the ACCC becomes aware, the business will likely be:
- Forced to recall the products in question
- Fined / Penalised
- Follow a class action lawsuit
- Refunding to all customers
- Banned from continuing business
It's quite easy to determine whether the dashcam is an upscaled (fake) 4K or a true-native (real) 4K.
- Native 4K resolution size: 8.2 mega-pixels or higher (3840x2160 pixels)
- 8MP = 4K image sensors made by Sony used in dashcams: IMX334/415/515/678
- Fake 4K (upscaled) using a 5MP or 1MP image sensor such as: Sony IMX335
- Deceptive website to hook you into their purchase funnel
Should you be a victim of a misleading marketing claim, please visit the ACL for help and assistance. (see below)
